National Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburg

The National Cornbread Festival is an annual food festival held on the last full weekend of April in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, home of the Lodge Cast Iron cookware foundry. First held in 1997, the ticketed festival features a cornbread cook-off, a cornbread eating competition, tastings from local civic groups at Cornbread Alley, foundry tours, a car cruise-in, and live music, drawing visitors from across the Southeast to the small town roughly 30 miles west of Chattanooga.

South Pittsburg, Tennessee, a small town on the Tennessee River roughly 30 miles west of Chattanooga, has been a cast-iron manufacturing town since 1896, when Joseph Lodge founded the Blacklock Foundry, later renamed Lodge Manufacturing Company, to cast skillets, Dutch ovens, and other cookware from raw iron.
