Suffolk Peanut Fest is a four-day October festival at the Suffolk Executive Airport in Suffolk, Virginia, now in its late forties of annual editions, celebrating the city's peanut-farming heritage. The event draws crowds for carnival rides, a demolition derby, DockDogs canine competitions, a Shrimp Feast, hot air balloons, and boiled and roasted peanuts throughout.
Suffolk, Virginia, developed into one of the most significant peanut-growing centers in the United States during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with local farmland well suited to the crop and the city eventually becoming home to major peanut processing operations that shipped the product nationally.
