Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater
The Sweetwater Jaycees World's Largest Rattlesnake Roundup has run annually since 1958 at the Nolan County Coliseum in West Texas, drawing roughly 30,000 visitors each second weekend of March for mass western diamondback rattlesnake handling, weigh-ins, and a concurrent gun and coin show. It is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the United States, and has drawn sustained criticism from animal-welfare and conservation groups.
Its rattlesnake-focused identity makes it one of Texas's most distinctive weird events.
