Vidalia Onion Festival in Vidalia
The Vidalia Onion Festival has celebrated Georgia's official state vegetable since 1977, when it began as a joint community effort called Spring Fest. Now a four-day event plus a lead-up week, it features an onion-eating contest, a carnival, concerts, a rodeo, and even an air show, and has been featured on the Food Network.
Its protected crop identity makes it one of Georgia's strongest food events.
