Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival in Warren
Since 1956, the Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival has celebrated Warren, Arkansas's heirloom pink tomato, an official state fruit-and-vegetable designated by the legislature in 1987. Held the second full weekend in June, it is the oldest continuously running festival in Arkansas, drawing about 35,000 visitors for a tomato-eating contest, a beauty pageant, and an all-tomato luncheon.
Warren, Arkansas sits in Bradley County soil well suited to growing tomatoes, and by the mid-twentieth century the pink-skinned heirloom tomato grown there had built a reputation strong enough that local organizers decided to build a festival around it.
