Yuma Lettuce Days in Yuma
Yuma Lettuce Days celebrates the region's role as the winter leafy greens capital of the United States, where up to ninety percent of the country's lettuce and leafy vegetables grown between November and March originate. Held each late winter at the University of Arizona Yuma Agricultural Center, the festival pairs agricultural demonstrations and cooking demonstrations with vendor booths, live entertainment, children's exhibits, and an annual Harvest Dinner.
Most Americans who eat a salad between November and March are, whether they realize it or not, eating vegetables grown in the fields around Yuma, Arizona.
