Fiesta Nacional de la Leche in Cardal
Fiesta Nacional de la Leche is a three-day dairy festival held every October in Villa Cardal, Florida department, Uruguay's self-declared dairy basin capital, since 2006. The event centers on a single giant batch of arroz con leche, rice pudding, made from 1,200 liters of milk and served free to tens of thousands of visitors.
Villa Cardal is a small town of just over 1,200 people in Uruguay's Florida department, and by most measures it should not host one of the country's most talked-about annual food events.
