Tashkent Plov Festival in Tashkent
A confirmed, well-documented Plov Festival takes place in Samarkand each August, not Tashkent, raising the possibility that this listing duplicates or misattributes that event. Tashkent does have its own large-scale plov tradition centered on the Central Asian Plov Center, particularly around the Nowruz spring holiday.
Plov is arguably Uzbekistan's most emblematic dish, a rice pilaf cooked with meat, carrots, and onions in a large qozon cauldron, and its preparation is treated less as everyday cooking than as communal ceremony, traditionally the domain of skilled male cooks working over open flame for weddings, holidays, and civic celebrations.
