Buzkashi, Afghanistan's national sport, is a horseback game in which mounted riders compete for control of a goat or calf carcass, tracing its roots to nomadic Central Asian horsemen between the tenth and fifteenth centuries, played in traditional tudabarai and government-sponsored qarajai team formats, contested by expert riders called chapandaz on specially trained horses.
