Algeria's largest cultural event by scale, the Salon International du Livre d'Alger, founded in 1996 by the Ministry of Culture and held at the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes, bringing publishers, authors and readers together across Arabic, Tamazight and French literary programming spanning book sales, panels and children's events.
Founded in 1996 by the Ministry of Culture and further institutionalized in 2009 with dedicated organizational resources, the Salon International du Livre d'Alger, known by its French acronym SILA, has grown into Algeria's most significant cultural event by scale, drawing publishers and readers to the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes in Algiers for a program spanning book sales, author talks, literary panels and children's programming.
