Timgad International Festival in Timgad

A July music and performance festival staged inside the ancient Roman theater of Timgad, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Algeria's Aures foothills, pairing Algerian and Amazigh musical traditions with contemporary acts on stone tiers built under Marcus Aurelius and still holding roughly four thousand spectators.

A Roman theater built nearly nineteen centuries ago, under the reigns of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus and completed around 168 CE, still seats an audience today: it forms the main stage for the Timgad International Festival, held each July inside the ruins of a UNESCO World Heritage city on the northern slopes of the Aures mountains.
