National Amazigh Film Festival in Tizi Ouzou
An October festival in Tizi Ouzou dedicated to Amazigh-language cinema, created in 1999 by Algeria's High Commission for Amazighity, screening films in Berber languages with Arabic or French subtitles and awarding its own Olivier d'Or trophy after a decade as a traveling event before settling permanently in Kabylie.
Created in 1999 by Algeria's High Commission for Amazighity, this festival spent its first decade as a traveling event, staging editions in Algiers, Tizi Ouzou, Oran, Bobigny in France, Annaba and Ghardaia before a 2005 ministerial decree formally institutionalized it as the National Annual Cultural Festival of Amazigh Film, known by its French acronym FCNAFA, and it settled permanently in Tizi Ouzou from 2010 onward.
