Carnaval de Luanda in Luanda
Angola's flagship carnival celebration, held each February along Luanda's Nova Marginal waterfront, featuring competitive costumed parades by neighborhood carnival groups performing semba, kizomba, and kuduro-rooted choreography before large crowds. Spanning several days along the oceanfront avenue, it draws enormous crowds and remains the most polished, high-profile carnival celebration on Angola's cultural calendar.
Each February, Luanda's Nova Marginal waterfront avenue becomes the stage for Carnaval de Luanda, Angola's largest and most prestigious carnival celebration, organized by the Provincial Government of Luanda as the flagship event of the country's carnival season.
