National Citriculture Festival in Concordia
Concordia's citrus-industry festival, held at the city's fairground under the name Expo Citrus, mixes a genuine trade exhibition for growers and exporters with concerts and the crowning of a National Citrus Queen. It traces to the 1960s and stabilized into a consistent annual event by the early 1990s after decades of sector-driven disruptions.
Concordia was designated Argentina's National Capital of Citrus Growing before its citrus festival even properly began -- sources differ on whether the first edition ran in 1963 or 1966, organized by the local Association of Citricultores at a time when this Entre Rios city was already the country's center of citrus production and trade.
