A September harvest-end festival in Tafí Viejo, the self-declared lemon capital of one of the world's largest citrus-growing regions, running since the early 1970s at the same sports club grounds, Villa Mitre, where local citrus producers first organized it as a grassroots celebration rather than a tourism-board creation.
Tafí Viejo calls itself the lemon capital for a concrete reason: the surrounding lowlands of Tucumán province form one of the largest lemon-growing and exporting regions anywhere, and the city's harvest-end festival, running since the early 1970s, still meets at the venue where it began, Club Atlético Villa Mitre.
