Royal Melbourne Show in Melbourne

Royal Melbourne Show has run at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale every September since the 1880s, tracing its roots back to 1848 as a small agricultural society's ploughing competition. The Royal title was granted by Queen Victoria in 1890, and the modern show combines livestock competitions, woodchopping and produce judging with a large carnival precinct, drawing attendances of up to half a million people.
