Sydney Lunar Festival in Sydney
The Sydney Lunar Festival transforms Darling Harbour and Chinatown into a multi-week celebration of Lunar New Year, featuring lion and dragon dances, lantern displays, and a dragon boat racing regatta on Cockle Bay. Coordinated by the City of Sydney, it has grown from Chinese New Year celebrations into a broader festival reflecting Vietnamese, Korean, and other Asian Lunar New Year traditions.
For several weeks around Lunar New Year, Sydney's Darling Harbour precinct and the nearby Chinatown district fill with lanterns, lion dances, and community performances as part of the Sydney Lunar Festival, one of the largest Lunar New Year celebrations outside of Asia.
