The story

Wellenklaenge Lunz in Lunz am See

Wellenklaenge is a contemporary arts festival on the Lunzer See in Lower Austria's Mostviertel region, founded by Suzie Heger in the late 1990s and staged on meadows, boats, and in barns before a floating lake stage by artist Hans Kupelwieser became its centerpiece in 2004. It mixes music with dance, theater, circus, and visual art each July under a certified Green Event framework.

Suzie Heger founded Wellenklaenge in her hometown of Lunz am See, first registering the organizing association in 1996 and staging the earliest editions in 1997 under the name Sommerspiele, or Summer Games, at a moment when a serious contemporary arts festival in a small Mostviertel lake village struck many locals as an unlikely proposition.
