Vienna Design Week in Vienna
Vienna Design Week pairs international and Austrian designers with Viennese manufacturers through its Passionswege format, showing new work inside real workshops rather than galleries. Each edition also spotlights a single Focus District, staging exhibitions in raw spaces -- former hospitals, disused dealerships -- across roughly ten days in autumn.
Vienna Design Week began in 2007 as the project of three organizers -- Lilli Hollein, Tulga Beyerle and Thomas Geisler -- who built the festival around a format called Passionswege, or Passion Routes, that actually predates the festival itself by a year as a pilot project.
