Bimini Junkanoo in Alice Town
Alice Town on North Bimini holds its own New Year's Day Junkanoo parade, contested between two named local groups, the Bimini Tum Tum's and the Bimini Stompers, along a short island route that keeps the whole performance visible from nearly any spot. A separate Junior Junkanoo Red Ribbon Parade runs on King's Highway for the island's younger performers, making Bimini's Junkanoo tradition distinctly multi-generational and far more intimate than Nassau's Bay Street event.
Alice Town, the main settlement on North Bimini, holds its own New Year's Day Junkanoo parade on a scale that makes Nassau's Bay Street event look enormous by comparison, and that smallness is exactly what gives it a different character.
