Bahamas Carnival in Nassau

Launched in 2015 as the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival and later rebranded Bahamas Carnival, this Nassau road carnival pairs soca music and feathered mas costume bands with a J'ouvert paint run and a headline concert series, deliberately distinct in format from the country's traditional Boxing Day and New Year's Junkanoo.

Bahamas Carnival began life in 2015 as the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival, a deliberately modern, government-backed attempt to graft a Trinidad-style road carnival onto Bahamian cultural identity, and it has since been rebranded simply as Bahamas Carnival while keeping the same basic format.
