Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition in Bahrain National Museum
This juried, multi-media exhibition of contemporary Bahraini art has run annually at the Bahrain National Museum for decades, regularly filling its galleries with over 100 works from dozens of artists spanning painting, sculpture, installation, photography and video. Winners receive the Al-Danah Award, a funded solo show, or an artist residency abroad, giving the results real career weight. Typically running February through April, it pairs well with the museum's permanent collection for a full cultural-day visit.
In one recent edition, this juried exhibition filled galleries at the Bahrain National Museum with more than 100 works by 55 Bahraini artists and residents, spanning painting, sculpture, installation, photography and video, and dedicated part of its floor space to a retrospective on sculptor Khalil Al Hashemi, whose own design became the trophy for the exhibition's top prize, the Al-Danah Award.
