Rath Mela Mokshedpur in Mokshedpur/Gopalganj

A wooden Jagannath chariot is pulled from its Gopalganj temple to a resting spot and left there for a full week, drawing a market of potters, bangle-sellers, sweet-makers and puppeteers around it until the return pull closes the cycle. Mokshedpur, in Muksudpur upazila, offers a smaller, more rural version of Bangladesh's Rath Yatra tradition than the well-known Dhamrai procession near Dhaka.

At Mokshedpur, the upazila town otherwise known as Muksudpur in Gopalganj district, a wooden chariot leaves the local Jagannath temple once a year and is hauled a short distance to a fixed resting spot, where it stays for exactly a week before the ropes come out again for the return pull.
