Puthia Rath Mela in Puthia

Near Rajshahi, Puthia's Rath Mela unfolds inside a historic terracotta temple complex where the Rath Mandir stands beside the five-spired Pancha Ratna Govinda temple and the old Puthia rajbari. The chariot pull temporarily fills this quiet architectural site, arranged around Shyam Sagar lake, with devotees and fair stalls.

Puthia's Rath Mandir is only one building among a cluster of terracotta temples built by the local Puthia Raj family, so the chariot procession held here shares its stage with some of the finest surviving temple architecture in Bangladesh.
