Kathin Chibar Dan in Rangamati/Bandarban
Kathin Chibar Dan is a Buddhist post-monsoon ceremony in Rangamati and Bandarban in which volunteers spin, dye, weave and stitch an entire monk's robe within 24 hours before offering it at the monastery. It is unrelated to the mid-April Boisabi new year season, falling instead in October or November on the Buddhist ritual calendar.
Within a single 24-hour window, volunteers at monasteries across the Chittagong Hill Tracts spin cotton into thread, dye it, weave it into cloth and stitch it into a monk's robe, completing the entire Kathin Chibar Dan offering before presenting it the same day the work began.
