Baishakhi Mela Sylhet

Sylhet's Baishakhi Mela scene is spread across several distinct sites rather than one central fairground: Jaflong, the tea-hill and stone-quarry area near the Khasi Hills border, is specifically noted for its fair, while Shahjalal University of Science and Technology runs its own campus version with bioscope and puppet shows. Expect handloom sarees, glass bangles, clay dolls and seasonal sweets sold by traveling vendors rather than a single curated market.

Jaflong, the stone-quarrying and tea-hill area on Sylhet's border with the Khasi Hills, is named in regional reporting as one of the places where Boishakhi Mela is specifically arranged, giving Sylhet's version of the fair a riverside, hill-country setting distinct from the flat-plain fairgrounds more typical elsewhere in Bangladesh.
