Trishal's Nazrul Jayanti honors national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's birth anniversary on the very school grounds where he lived as a teenager. In 1914, a teenage Kazi Nazrul Islam arrived in Trishal to live with his guardian, a police officer named Rafiz Ullah, and enrolled at Darirampur High School - the same campus, now the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Government College and Nazrul Academy, where the town's biggest annual festival is built.
