Dia de San Pedro in San Pedro
Dia de San Pedro marks Saint Peter's June 29 feast day, the town's namesake patron and protector of fishermen, with ten days of novenas culminating in a 4 a.m. Fishermen's Mass and a boat procession. The night before, La Alborada brings the hog head dance and Mestizo traditions from mainland Belize, before the San Pedro Town Council closes the day with music and dance at Saca Chispas field.
Saint Peter, patron of fishermen, gives San Pedro Town its name, and the town returns the favor every year with a ten-day run of observances that peak on June 29, his feast day.
