Gaani de Nikki in Nikki

Gaani, or the Fete de la Gaani, is Nikki's centuries-rooted royal festival, built around the Bariba (Baatonu) traditional ruler, the Sinaboko, and famous for its horsemen: riders in bright robes stage mock cavalry charges through town in a display tracing back to the region's historic Bariba cavalry culture. Village chiefs and families travel to Nikki to renew loyalty to the crown through drumming, praise-song and public homage.

Gaani, also written Gani and known locally as the Fete de la Gaani, is one of the best-known traditional festivals of northern Benin, rooted in the royal court of Nikki, historic seat of one of the Bariba (Baatonu) kingdoms in the Borgou region.
