Nalakhar Tshechu in Nalakhar
Nalakhar Tshechu gathers the Choekhor Valley community around Ngaa Lhakhang, a private temple in Bumthang founded in the 15th century by Lama Namkha Samdrup. Held over three days on the Bhutanese lunar calendar, it is a village-scale festival of masked cham dances and folk performances asking for good harvests and household wellbeing, quieter and more local than the tshechus held inside major dzongs.
Ngaa Lhakhang sits in the Choekhor Valley of Bumthang, a private temple raised in the 15th century by Lama Namkha Samdrup rather than a state dzong, and its Tshechu keeps that intimate, village character.
