Thimphu Drubchen in Tashichho Dzong
Thimphu Drubchen is an intensive tantric ritual performed by monks at Tashichho Dzong in the days before the much larger Thimphu Tshechu begins, reenacting the historical defeat of invading Tibetan forces. It follows the same drubchen-then-tshechu sequence used at Punakha, offering a quieter, more monastic counterpart to the festive tshechu that follows.
Thimphu Drubchen takes place at Tashichho Dzong, the fortress-monastery that serves as the seat of Bhutan's central government and the summer residence of the Je Khenpo, Bhutan's chief abbot, in the days immediately preceding the far larger Thimphu Tshechu.
