Goenpai Drupchen

Goenpai Drupchen is the ritual that precedes Trongsa Tshechu inside the same dzong, an intensive monastic drubchen built around eleven days of concentrated prayer and meditation practice that closes with about three days of public dance, known locally as Goenpoi Dromchhe. Unlike the Tshechu's festive, crowd-facing five days, this earlier ritual is quieter and more closed, centered on the monk body's own practice rather than a big public program.

Before Trongsa Dzong opens its courtyard to the crowds of the Tshechu, its resident monks spend roughly eleven days in a more private ritual called a drubchen, an intensive group meditation and prayer retreat built around a specific tantric deity practice, in this case tied to the protector Goenpo.
