Modul Memory Sarajevo in Sarajevo
Modul Memory Sarajevo is a spring theatre and memory program run by the MESS festival organization, launched in 1996 to focus specifically on preserving cultural memory of the 1990s Bosnian war through performances, film, photography and discussion. It is quieter and more reflective than a typical arts festival, suited to travelers with a direct interest in the region's postwar cultural history.
Modul Memory Sarajevo grew out of an idea raised during the siege of Sarajevo itself, formalized in 1996 by the governing board of the MESS theatre festival as a dedicated program for confronting the city's recent war rather than folding that material into the main October theatre season.
