Slovo Gorcina in Stolac
A literary festival held each July in Stolac, founded in 1971 as a memorial reading for the poet Mak Dizdar at the nearby Radimlja necropolis. It centers on the Mak Dizdar Prize for young poets alongside readings, talks, and accompanying art and music. Slovo Gorcina began in July 1971, days after the death of the poet Mak Dizdar, when a small group of his friends organized a public reading of his poetry at Radimlja, the medieval stecci necropolis outside Stolac that Dizdar had written about extensively.
