Paraty International Literary Festival in Paraty
FLIP turns Paraty, a Portuguese colonial port town with UNESCO-listed cobblestone streets, into Brazil's premier literary address each July. Founded in 2003 by Bloomsbury co-founder Liz Calder, the festival centers on a raised tent hosting a rotating homenageado, a celebrated Brazilian writer, alongside major international novelists. Beyond the main stage, readings, publisher events and late-tide street life fill a town small enough to cross on foot.
