Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro
Founded in 1985 by promoter Roberto Medina, Rock in Rio built a temporary festival city in Rio de Janeiro and filled it with acts like Queen, AC/DC and Iron Maiden for what became one of the largest music festivals in the world. Decades later the event still returns to Rio as its flagship edition, now mixing international pop, metal and Brazilian acts across multiple stages inside the recurring City of Rock grounds.
Rock in Rio matters because it made Brazil a central stage for global live music while keeping the crowd’s voice as the real headline.
