Virada Cultural Sao Paulo in São Paulo
Sao Paulo's city government has staged a genuinely non-stop 24-hour cultural marathon each year since 2005, filling Praca da Se, the Vale do Anhangabau and surrounding downtown streets with free music, dance, theater and visual arts from Saturday afternoon straight through to Sunday morning. Hundreds of stages mix major touring acts with local and emerging performers who rarely headline events of this size.
Virada Cultural has turned downtown Sao Paulo into a free, round-the-clock cultural marathon since the city government launched it in 2005, staging hundreds of performances across dozens of stages that run continuously from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning without a single scheduled break.
