Plovdiv City Festival in Plovdiv
Plovdiv City Festival is a free, three-day mid-January event organized by the Plovdiv 2019 Foundation to mark the city's year as European Capital of Culture. Four open-air stages, DJ sets, concerts, art and video installations, and children's activities spread across the city centre's streets, squares, and underpasses, typically opening with a video installation at the Archaeological Underpass.
Plovdiv held the title of European Capital of Culture in 2019, a designation it shared that year with Matera in Italy, and Plovdiv City Festival exists to keep marking that year's momentum rather than let it fade into an anniversary plaque.
