Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Sofia

Sofia MENAR screens features, documentaries and shorts from the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia across Sofia cinemas each January, with matching screenings in other Bulgarian cities on the same schedule. Organized by the Pozor company, editions have run over fifty films. The name stands for Middle East and North Africa Region and, in Arabic, roughly translates as lighthouse or guiding light.

MENAR is shorthand for Middle East and North Africa Region, and the festival carrying the name screens features, documentaries and shorts from Morocco to Iran in cinemas across Sofia every January.
