Sofia Paper Art Fest in Sofia
Grown from Amateras, a juried paper-art competition launched in 2009, Sofia Paper Art Fest expanded two years later into a full festival built around cut, folded and sculptural paper work. Programming spans a juried exhibition, a paper-art biennial, workshops and public installations, drawing thousands of submitted works from artists across dozens of countries over its run.
Sofia Paper Art Fest grew out of Amateras, an annual paper-art competition and exhibition that started in 2009; two years later the organizers expanded it into a full festival, and organizers describe it as the first annual paper art festival anywhere in the world.
