Sofia Science Festival in Sofia

A public science festival based mainly at Sofia Tech Park, bringing researchers and engineers from across Europe to run talks, demonstrations and family-friendly labs over four days each May. Founded in 2011 by the British Council and Forum Democrit as Bulgaria's first dedicated science event, it now operates under the Beautiful Science Foundation with backing from the Ministry of Education and Science, and many sessions are free and open to the public.

Sofia Tech Park hosts most of the sessions, but the event that fills its halls each spring started somewhere else: a 2011 partnership between the British Council and the Bulgarian nonprofit Forum Democrit, built to give the country its first dedicated science event.
