Tryavna Art Festival in Tryavna
Despite its name suggesting a visual-arts event tied to Tryavna's woodcarving heritage, the Tryavna Art Festival centers on classical music: an early-August International Music Summer Academy with masterclasses in piano, clarinet, flute and strings, plus an International Competition for Music Performers, concerts, exhibitions and film screenings. All events run free of charge under the patronage of Tryavna's mayor, set inside the town's historic National Revival-era old quarter.
Tryavna Art Festival turns out to be built around classical music rather than the town's better-known woodcarving heritage: each summer the event centers on an International Music Summer Academy, with masterclasses in piano, clarinet, flute, violin and viola taught by working professors and performers from Bulgaria, Germany and the United Kingdom, alongside an International Competition for Music Performers that draws entrants from abroad for a judged program with both online and in-person sections.
