Love is Folly International Film Festival in Varna
Love is Folly is an international competitive film festival in Varna built around a single theme: films must deal with love, a rule drawn from the Ivan Vazov story that gives the festival its name. Founded in 1993 by Varna's Festival and Congress Centre, it opens each year on the last Friday of August and screens upward of 90 Bulgarian and international films across the city's cinemas and cultural venues.
Love is Folly takes its name and its organizing theme from Ivan Vazov's short story of the same title, and every feature film in its competition has to engage with love as a subject, a curatorial rule unusual among the world's more genre-agnostic festivals.
