A past edition opened with the Bulgarian-German film Klopka and included roughly twenty titles drawn from Cannes, Oscar, Golden Globe and LUX nominee lists, screened over more than a week in local Varna cinemas.

A Bulgarian-German co-production called Klopka, directed by Nadezhda Koseva, opened a past edition of the Sofia Film Fest's Varna leg on the Black Sea coast, one of roughly twenty titles screened that week under a program run independently of the Sofia schedule.
