FITO in Ouagadougou
FITO (Festival international des instruments et danses traditionnels de Ouagadougou) is a three-day festival at the Musee National built specifically around traditional instruments and the dances performed with them. Its fourth edition spotlighted the Djan community's balafon and dance traditions under a peace-and-cohesion theme, with performances, exhibitions and free training sessions.
FITO devoted its fourth edition to a community rarely featured elsewhere on Burkina Faso's festival circuit: the Djan, whose balafon playing and folk dances captivated audiences at the Musee National in Ouagadougou over three days in May.
