Grito Rock Praia in Praia/Pracinha da Escola Grande
Part of the international Grito Rock grassroots movement that began in 2002 and reached roughly four hundred cities in forty countries, Grito Rock Praia became the movement's pioneering foothold in Africa, rooted in the rock band Primitive, founded in Praia in 2003. Organised by Artikul CJ and held every March at the Largo da Pracinha da Escola Grande in Praia's historic Plato district, the festival has run for more than a decade.
Grito Rock Praia belongs to a genuinely international grassroots movement, Grito Rock, which began in 2002 and grew to reach roughly four hundred cities across forty countries before arriving in Cabo Verde, with the country's capital becoming the movement's pioneering foothold on the entire African continent when the local edition launched.
