A three-day carnival tradition in Ribeira Brava, Sao Nicolau island, tracing to the early twentieth century and anchored by carnival groups Copa Cabana, founded 1958, and Estrela Azul, founded 1964, alongside Baianas do Tarrafal representing the Tarrafal de Sao Nicolau municipality, converging on the town's central Terreiro da Se square.
