Sraung Preah Water Blessing in Nationwide

Sraung Preah is the water-blessing ceremony held on the third and final day of Khmer New Year, when families pour scented water over Buddha statues, monks, and elders as a gesture of respect, apology, and hope for blessing in the year ahead. Rooted in a folk story about children who bathe their parents earning a place on a golden scroll, it closes the holiday on a note of purification and renewal.

Sraung Preah, sometimes spelled Srang Preah, is the water-pouring ceremony that closes Khmer New Year on Thngai Leung Sak, its third and final day, when families gather at pagodas with bowls of scented water to bathe Buddha statues, monks, grandparents, and parents.
