Koh Kong Mangrove Festival in Koh Kong
The Peace Mangrove Festival gathers officials, monks, and villagers in the stilt-house community of Koh Sralao to plant mangrove saplings, tour the tidal channels by boat, and learn about the roughly 30,000 hectares of mangrove forest protecting Koh Kong's coastline. First staged in early 2025 by the Ministry of Environment with provincial and local conservation partners, organizers describe it as intended to continue annually.
In the stilt-house river village of Koh Sralao, on Koh Kong province's mangrove-threaded coast, officials, monks, and villagers waded into the shallows together in early 2025 to plant mangrove saplings along an eroding tidal creek, the centerpiece of a three-day event called the Peace Mangrove Festival.
