Sambor Prei Kuk Heritage Festival in Sambor Prei Kuk
Sambor Prei Kuk's closest equivalent to a heritage festival is its yearly UNESCO-inscription anniversary commemoration, held at the pre-Angkorian temple zone in Kampong Thom since the 2017 listing, drawing the Culture Ministry, provincial officials, and residents, with the ninth anniversary marked by the prime minister. This is a genuinely seventh-century Chenla-era capital with around 186 surviving brick temples and Southeast Asia's oldest octagonal towers, and its anniversary event is distinct from the separate Sambor Prei Kuk Half Marathon held at the same site.
Sambor Prei Kuk marks its UNESCO anniversary each year with an official commemoration at the temple site itself, an event that has grown into something close to a recurring heritage festival even though it began simply as a listing celebration.
